Learning How to Blog for Realz

Dear Ellen,
It was good to hear your voice! Here is a little student 'badge' goodie! Holly probably would laugh because I'm not supposed to post it as a picture, I think I'm supposed to post it somewhere else as a permanent button while I am enrolled in the class. Obviously I need it.

Yum!

Dear Hannah,

I like Mr. Chubby Cheeks. Your pictures make my mouth water (especially the cookie and donut). It is amazing to me how you see art in the simplest things like pasta in a pot. So pretty!

Tomorrow is Dr. Seuss' birthday and we are celebrating at school by making pink yink ink and butter on toast (both butter side up and butter side down). There will be pictures.

This is a picture from last year of my perfect spring lunch: local tomatoes, goat cheese, eggs and pickles with tinned smoked trout, flat breads and pumpernickel sticks. The weather is finally warming up in Nashvegas and I have spring fever!

Trader Joe's has the best heirloom navel oranges right now. I'm squeezing one or two every morning for breakfast.

This is a lunch I made recently for a friend: cucumber sandwiches, butternut squash soup, chickpea salad, grapes, cheese and water crackers (cranberry goat cheese and apricot Stilton), and raspberries on pound cake all served with tea. I wish you had been there.

I miss you!
xoxo,
Ellen

Play With Your Food

Dear Ellen,
I know Professer Chubby Cheeks here doesn't really 'go' visually with the other pics, but it just happened and I had to share!

A belated Valentine

Dear Hannah,

You were right. It was easy to find love all around...

You just have to know where to look...

Valentine's Shopping....without leaving the house!

Dear Ellen, sometimes I like to 'shop' in my house. It's much cheaper
and sometimes even more fun than shopping in a store. it make me sort and
group things by color or shape or whatever. Most of these images are vintage
or art I've made. The cute card you can get at Target, I believe, and the
hippo fabric is from Ikea!
